Smoking
Valley Regional Hospital is a smoke-free facility and smoking is not permitted.
The use of tobacco products is prohibited in all hospital buildings or offices and within a radius of 9 metres (30 feet) from all entrances, windows, air intake or exhaust external ventilation ducts and air handling equipment, and any other areas identified for health and safety reasons
Visiting
Visiting is permitted from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and 3:30 pm to 8:00 pm. All persons should be aware that patients are provided a rest period from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
Visiting is not permitted during the rest period with the following exceptions:
- Obstetrical Unit – Husbands or significant support person may visit at any time.
- Paediatric Unit – Parents may visit at any time.
The visiting hours for the Psychiatry Unit are:
Monday - Friday from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Weekends and Holidays from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Special circumstances may warrant other arrangements which can be made through the Nurse Manager or the Shift Coordinator.
Parking
Limited parking is available for patients receiving ambulatory (out-patient) care services, as well as for visitors. If you are being admitted as an in-patient or a day stay patient, you should arrange to have someone drive you to and from the hospital.
