| Medical and Surgical Care |
25 Medical/Surgical beds are available for care of patients with acute illnesses or surgical needs. |
| Long Term Care for Veterans |
25 veterans call Soldier's Memorial Hospital their home. Interviews to determine eligibility of veterans may be arranged by calling Veterans Affairs Canada at 1-800-565-0197 |
| Transitional Care Unit |
12 bed unit which provides supportive care in a more homelike environment for patients who have completed the acute phase of their illness and are awaiting transfer elsewhere |
| Emergency Department |
Staffed by skilled nurses twenty four hours a day. Patients are assessed, initial care is planned by the nurse, and patients receive care based on severity of the illness. Physicians available on-call for emergency patient care after regular hours, on weekends and holidays. |
| Cardiac Assessments |
Physicians refer patients for EKG's, Stress Tests and Holter Monitoring. |
| Medical Specialist Services |
Physicians can refer patients to the specialist services which include general surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics and geriatrics. |
| Enterostomal Therapy |
Available for anyone with an ostomy. For appointment call 825-6161, extension 316 |
| Laboratory Services |
Outpatient Blood collections 7:00 a.m. -
10:30 a.m. Monday to Friday (excluding holidays) First come first serve basis |
| Diagnostic Imaging |
X- Ray -
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday to
Saturday (excluding holidays). |
| Physiotherapy Services |
Four physiotherapists provide service at no charge for inpatients and outpatients.730 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday (excluding holidays) |
| Occupational Therapy |
Staffed by one full time occupational therapist. 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday (excluding holidays) |
| Nutrition Services |
A dietician/nutritionist assesses the nutrition needs of patients in the hospital and provides nutrition education. |
| Diabetes Education |
Teaching people with diabetes, their families and friends what diabetes is and how to handle it. Available Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to people in the hospital and in the community. |
| Public Health Services |
A source of information and support for all ages. 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (excluding holidays) may be reached at 825-3385. |
| Mental Health Centre |
Open 8:30 - 4:30 Monday to Friday (excluding holidays) may be reached at 825-4825. |
| Addictions Services |
Addiction Services promotes the health of individuals, families and communities by providing prevention and health promotion programs and treatment services related to drugs (tobacco, alcohol, other drugs) and gambling. |
