Paving work will limit access to some parking lots at Cape Breton Regional Hospital
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SYDNEY, N.S. – A two-week paving project will limit access to some parking lots at Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney.
Work will begin on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7 a.m. in the lower rear public parking lot (across from the mental health entrance). This work is estimated to take two to four days to complete. After that work is completed, paving will move to a large public parking lot at the front of the building. That work will be done in sections to allow limited public access while paving is underway. The staff parking lot at the front of the building will be the last lot to be paved.
Barricades will be used to indicate which lots or sections are closed. Extra security staff will also be in place to help with directions. People will be able to park in the large upper staff and public parking lot at the rear of the hospital while the work is underway. Staff can also park in the lower rear card access lot (across from the staff entrance side).
Because access to parking spots will be limited, parking gates will be raised during the project to allow for safe traffic flow. If people are unable to find parking at the hospital, they can pay to park at HealthPark and access the hospital via the pedway while the project is underway.
People will still be able to access the hospital’s main entrance as well as the drop-off / pick-up area in the front.
While the work is underway, there may be an increase in traffic around the hospital. People are asked to use caution and watch for vehicle and pedestrian traffic around the hospital, as well as inside the parking lots.
They are also asked to slow down and use caution on roadways near the hospital and as they enter and exit parking lots.
The project is expected to last two weeks barring any unexpected delays like inclement weather.
Nova Scotia Health Authority appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while this work is underway.
