A beacon of hope in Kentville (VIDEO - 3:53)
A place where young adults can be empowered, grow and change their lives – that sounds like a tall order but it’s one that Beacon Program has been delivering on.
Based in Kentville, this psychosocial rehabilitation program supports young adults ages 18 to mid-30s living with severe and persistent mental illness. The goal is to help clients improve functional abilities, increase community integration, and to ultimately live satisfying lives. Beacon clients work closely with the Beacon Program team to develop their individualized growth and recovery plans, also focusing on personal goals.
The program is provincial and clients can self-refer or be referred by a health care provider. During the program, clients stay at Beacon House and participate in a variety of programming tailored to help them reach their goals.
