Arrival of New Chiller Unit will Limit Access to Parking at Victoria County Memorial Hospital on June 14

Access to the parking lot and ambulance entrance at Victoria County Memorial Hospital (VCMH) in Baddeck will be limited on Thursday, June 14.

A new chiller unit will arrive at the hospital on Thursday morning. It replaces the hospital’s current unit which is about 30 years old. A chiller provides air conditioning and is part of the hospital’s air handling system for patient and staff comfort. The old unit will be removed first from the hospital before the new one is installed. Both units will be moved through the ambulance entrance. Security will be onsite for traffic control while the moves are underway.

Work is expected to start around 5:30 a.m. and wrap up around 9:30 a.m. While work is underway, parking will be limited on site. People are asked to park offsite or arrange for drop-off and pick-up. Ambulances will also use the main entrance at that time. People are asked to use caution on roadways near the hospital or as they enter and exit the building.

There will be no impact to services provided at the hospital during this work. People will still be able to enter the building through the main entrance.

Nova Scotia Health Authority appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while this work is underway.
