The Western Zone is supported by three regional facilities, as well as a number of community hospitals and health centres. Specialty services are distributed among the three regional hospitals located in Bridgewater, Kentville and Yarmouth. The Zone encompasses the coastal beaches and fishing communities of the South Shore, the historic French communities on the Acadian Shore, and breathtaking farmers markets, apple orchards and vineyards of the Annapolis Valley. Western Zone is home to the centrally located Kejimkujik National Park and the UNESCO World Heritage recognized Bay of Fundy. There’s something for everyone in this region, all within a 1-3 hour commute to the capital city.
We are recruiting for full-time family physicians for two separate practices in Kentville. One practice offers a newly renovated office space which is being developed into a collaborative practice and the other is a busy six-physician practice. Both practices offer a great opportunity for working with well-established physicians. The physician will be expected to provide office-based comprehensive primary care as well as inpatient care at the Valley Regional Hospital which is located steps away from both practices.
Compensation is through Fee for Service or Alternative Payment Plan arrangement. Depending on your professional interests, physicians may shape their practice to include: inpatient care, obstetrical services, hospitalist work, ER coverage, surgical assists to name a few services available to participate. Physicians have an opportunity to work as a preceptor with medical students and residents as well.
Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia and must be certified or be eligible for certification by College of Family Physicians of Canada.
