Calling Nova Scotia home means ocean views, active living, and welcoming communities. Practicing here means working with passionate colleagues, providing world class care, and helping people be healthy and stay healthy, for generations. The Nova Scotia Health Authority provides health services to Nova Scotians and some specialized services to Atlantic Canadians. We operate hospitals, health centres, and collaborative community-based programs across the province.
The Eastern Zone is supported by the two regional hospitals and a host of community hospitals and health centres. Specialty services are distributed among the two regional hospitals located in Sydney and Antigonish. Located on the very Eastern point of Nova Scotia is the stunning scenery of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park where the road climbs along the edge of Nova Scotia and it is a regular occurrence to hike among moose in their habitat. Enjoy the port city of Sydney and see the World’s Largest Fiddle on the friendly waterfront boardwalk. Cape Breton Island (connected by a causeway to mainland Nova Scotia) is known for a music scene that has prompted international attention for its deep Celtic and Gaelic roots. The traditions continue just on the other side of the Canso Causeway throughout Guysborough County to the town of Antigonish, home of St. Francis Xavier University – including the Coady Institute for International Development and the annual Highland Games and just a short drive to go back in time at Sherbrooke Village, a living museum where you can experience a traditional Nova Scotia town during the 1860’s and while in Sherbrooke you can enjoy the picturesque St. Mary’s River – a must see for nature lovers!
The Eastern Zone is seeking a full-time anesthesiologist to join their group based St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in the town of Antigonish. Candidates must be certified or be eligible for certification by Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
