Funds are provided by Department of Health and Wellness to Community Health Boards to fund activities promoting wellness in their communities. Wellness Fund grants are available for non-profit groups/organizations working to address issues the CHBs have identified as health concerns in their Collaborative Community Health Plan.
CHBs focus on improving the health of their communities. Supporting projects at the local level is an important part of their legislated role. CHBs focus on health promotion looking at the broad determinants that affect health, such as education, social support networks, personal health practices, employment, income etc.
