The WKCHB recently held a celebration for recipients of our Wellness Funds this year.  Members are excited to have a greater role and connection with these projects, and look forward to getting first-hand experience seeing the impact these community groups have in creating healthy communities!

The WKCHB supported the implementation of a Healthy Food Environment policy in the Town of Berwick by sponsoring a Poster contest at the Berwick and District School.  Over 200 students participated by creating a poster showing "Berwick- making it easier to eat healthier where you live, learn, work and play".  The students were rewarded with class and school prizes thanks to many businesses and organizations in the Berwick area.  Here is a sampling of the work and celebration:

In December, during the Berwick winter celebration days, the WKCHB further supported this initiative by providing andserving local hot apple cider, oatmeal cookies (from the BeeHive in Aylesford) and SOUP (made at the Evangeline Club from local produce and herbs).

If you are interested in learning more about how you can get involved, please contact Leanne Graham, Coordinator, or speak to one of our members:  wkchb@nshealth.ca or 902-538-7088.
